The Ukrainian president explained on Wednesday that he wants to “restore our lands” in Ukraine and “punish all the crimes” committed by the Russian army since the start of the war 500 days ago.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on the second day of a NATO summit in Vilnius that Kiev would not be satisfied with a “freeze” on the frontline against Russian troops and wanted to recover all its occupied territories.
He urged us to “restore our lands, restore security in our territory, return people forced to leave the country” and “punish all Russian crimes.”
“That’s victory” and “a frozen conflict is not a victory,” he added.
“We shall not tremble!”
Throughout the day, Volodymyr Zelenskyy repeated messages of thanks for the “enormous help” Ukraine has received from Western leaders who are members of NATO.
The Ukrainian leader smoothed things over on the final day of the summit after sharply rebuking the alliance’s leaders on Tuesday for not setting a timetable for his country’s integration into the body.
“Thank you very much. You, all Americans, Congress (…) you have been with us since the first days of this war. We are very sensitive to it”, he began during an event. -One with his American partner.
“We will not bend!” Joe Biden warned in a speech at Vilnius University, stressing that Russian President Vladimir Putin has failed in his bid to “break up” the Atlantic alliance.
“Ukraine’s future is in NATO,” he assured earlier. But, in the meantime, “we (Ukrainians) are going to help build strong defense capabilities on land, at sea and in the air,” he said, before praising the bravery of this country, “an example for the whole world.”.
