The Ukrainian military released on Friday Russia has released several videos documenting the first hours of its surprise incursion into the Kursk region in southwestern Russia last week.
One of the videos, about two minutes long, Offers Missile strikes, armored vehicles roaming open fields and residential areas, as well as captured Russian soldiers. At the end of the video, Ukrainian soldiers throw the Russian flag to the ground.
“Careful preparation, planning, surprise, morale and media silence were crucial in the initial phase of the operation,” said Ukraine’s elite airborne troops, which posted the video on YouTube.
“Everything now depends on the resilience of Ukrainian soldiers from all branches of the armed forces participating in the operation,” she added.

The video, filmed from the air by a drone, shows Russian soldiers stationed at a border crossing emerging from the rubble of a destroyed building, waving white flags. The Ukrainian military said more than 50 Russian soldiers had surrendered there.
“Facing heavy fire from Ukrainian artillery and seeing Ukrainian tanks on the territory of the border crossing, the Russians made the right decision to hang the white flag and surrender to Ukrainian soldiers,” the 80th Air Assault Brigade said.

Kiev has not provided an official count of the number of Russian soldiers captured by its forces during the 11 days since it stormed the Russian border. The Independent Cited An unnamed Ukrainian colonel estimated that about 2,000 Russian soldiers may have been captured.
