NASCAR rookie Ty Gibbs’ pit crew won the All-Star Race pit crew challenge at North Wilkesboro Speedway on Friday after hitting the fastest pit stop of the day. The outcome of the Pit Crew Challenge determined the starting lineup for Saturday’s Heat Races and Sunday’s All-Star Open.

The crew of the Ty Gibbs #54 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota team completed a four-tire pit stop with a time of 13.012 seconds and earned a $100,000 bonus as part of the NASCAR All-Star Race weekend.

The winning No. 54 pit crew team includes crew chief Chris Gayle, tire changers Blake Houston and Michael Hicks, tire shifters Jacob Holmes, jackman Derrell Edwards and fuels Peyton Moore.

With his team winning, Gibbs would start on the NASCAR All-Star Open pole position as he attempted to qualify for the 200-lap All-Star race. He will be joined by Josh Perry, who continues to replace injured Alex Bowman in the No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet.

With the second fastest pit stop of 13.297 seconds during the Pit Crew Challenge, Daniel Suarez secured the pole position in Heat 1. Chris Buescher, whose No. 17 crew recorded the third fastest pit stop, will start on pole in Heat 2.


NASCAR All-Star Pit Team Challenging Qualifying Results

Both 60-lap heat races will determine the starting lineup for Sunday’s NASCAR All-Star Race that pays $1 million to the winner. The results of Heat 1 will determine the inner row and Heat 2 will determine the outer row.
