The Hawks begin formal discussions with Quin Snyder for the head coaching job: Resources

The Atlanta Hawks have begun formal discussions with former Utah Jazz coach Quinn Snyder and are trying to quickly hire Snyder during the season, according to league sources. the athlete.

Sources said Al-Saqour and Schneider held a virtual meeting on Wednesday. The sources added that Snyder is believed to be out of the country as of Wednesday, and the two sides are working on a possible in-person meeting in the very near future. Along with Snyder, the Hawks have a roster of coaching candidates such as Milwaukee Bucks assistant Charles Lee, Sacramento Kings assistant Jordy Fernandez, Golden State Warriors assistant Kenny Atkinson, San Antonio Spurs assistant Mitch Johnson and Miles Simon of the University of South Bay. Of the pool of candidates, the Hawks are believed to have focused on Snyder.

The sources said there were mutual interests between the Hawks and Snyders. At 29-30 and in eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings, the Hawks believe the time is right to move quickly on their future coach, if possible, and believe in Snyder’s ability to advance their culture both on and off the floor.

Snyder, a former assistant at Atlanta, is considered the best coach available in the market and one of the best coaches in the league. The 56-year-old has compiled a 372-264 record in eight seasons with Utah.

And on Tuesday, the team fired head coach Nate McMillan after losing eight of its 13 games going into the break. Head assistant coach Joe Bronte was hired to take over as the team’s interim head coach.
