Netflix edited a joke about Will Smith from Chris Rock: Selective Fury after Rock misses her during his live show.

During a series of jokes about Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith at the end of the Rock Show on March 4 — the first-ever global livestreamed event — the comedian cracked a joke of his own as he recalled a conversation he allegedly had with Smith while hosting the 2016 Academy Awards.

After the misstep, Rock continued to accurately deliver the joke. “I started this crap. She said I, a grown man, should quit his job because my husband wasn’t nominated concussion,'” He said.

The example Rock cited occurred the same year that Pinkett Smith boycotted the ceremony amid the #OscarsSoWhite movement, which focused on the Film Academy’s history of racial exclusion among its nominees and winners’ lists.

Smith took to the Oscars 2022 stage last March and slapped Rock after he made an unscripted joke about Pinkett Smith’s bald hairstyle, which she wore as a result of alopecia, an immune-related condition.
