The MTV VMAs were held on Sunday, August 28 in a live event at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
This year’s event was hosted by LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj and Jack Harlow, with performances from Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Lizzo, K-pop group Blackpink and Italian rock band Maneskin.
In addition to winning Video of the Year, Swift was seen enthusiastically singing Nicki Minaj’s Super Bass from her seat in the crowd.
Although Harry Styles was nominated for a range of awards, he failed to attend the ceremony due to his performance at one of his private parties in New York.

This year’s party takes place tonight (Sunday, August 28) in Newark, NJ, with not one but three hosts to keep you entertained throughout the evening: Jack Harlow, Nicki Minaj and LL Cole J.
The organizers also booked a number of stars for the live shows, including Lizzo, K-pop group BLACKPINK, Eminem and Snoop Dogg, and the Italian rock band Maneskin.
Harlow and Maneskin are somewhat controversial appearances due to the fact that they both came out of Reading and Leeds festivals in the UK to make it to the VMAs. I guess the money (and primetime TV slots) speaks…
Well, who will wear what on the red carpet? I’ve seen a lot of expectations for “naked” dresses because Megan Fox wore one last year…Personally, I’m always excited to see what Lizzo has envisioned, as well as Manskin’s ensemble (even if it’s in my bad books for pulling out of a UK festival to attend), Rosalia, Bad Bunny (Incredible Style), Billie Eilish. Nicki Minaj will probably wear at least three outrageous outfits.
Jack Harlow and Maneskin drop out of Reading and Leeds to perform at the MTV VMAs
The leaders of Reading and Leeds may have been upset when they learned that Italian rock band Manskin and American rapper Jack Harlow were pulling out of festivals at the last minute.
Both acts were enticed by the promise of some prime-time television footage at the 2022 MTV VMAs, with Harlow performing and co-hosting fellow rappers Nicki Minaj and LL Cool J.
“We are saddened to hear that Jack Harlow and Måneskin have decided to perform at the Awards Gala on the same weekend that they were confirmed to play Reading and Leeds,” festival organizers wrote in a statement posted to their Instagram Stories.
“We are working on some exciting alternatives to join Arctic Monkeys, Dave, Bring Me The Horizon, 1975, Halsey, Megan Thee Stallion, D-Block Europe, PinkPantheress, Joy Crookes, Fontaines DC, Bastille, Willow, Wolf Alice, Glass Animals and Minds. Hybrid and many others at Reading and Leeds Festivals this August Bank Holiday Weekend, watch this space!”

Having multiple hosts is nothing new to the VMAs, which were first anchored by Pete Midler and Dan Aykroyd in 1984. Other previous hosts include Katy Perry, Arsenio Hall, black jackRussell Brand, Chris Rock and last year doja cat.
LL Cool J is a three-time nominee who won the 1991 Best Rap Video for “Mama Said Knock You Out”, and won the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award in 1997.
As I mentioned The Hollywood ReporterMTV has stated that the show will be the “first of its kind” to perform “From the D 2 The LBC” inspired by the otherworldly Metaverse universe.
Others Side – a Boston-based American video game developer – describes itself as an “interoperable metaverse for a game currently in development. The game blends mechanics from multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) and virtual worlds that support Web 3.
“Think of it as a metaRPG where players own the world, NFTs can become playable characters, and thousands can play together in real time.”
The MTV VMAs will be held at 8 PM EST on Sunday, August 28 at the Prudential Center in New Jersey. This means that in the UK, the concert will be broadcast at 1am on Monday 29 August.

Madonna proves that the MTV VMAs have never lacked controversy
Earlier this month, Madonna pondered how a wardrobe malfunction early in her career – at the first MTV Awards in 1984 – led her manager to say “her career is over.”
The 63-year-old music icon said the moment happened when she sang her single “Like A Virgin”.
“And I was trying to do this smooth movement like diving for a shoe and making it look like it was a choreography and my clothes flipped over, and my butt was showing. Can you imagine?
“Those were the days when you didn’t have to show your ass to get a job,” she joked. “Now it’s the opposite.”
The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards are expected to be full of iconic fashion.
This year’s red carpet kicks off at 6:15 p.m. (ET) with a 90-minute pre-MTV VMAs show hosted by Nyssa, Kevin Kenny and celebrity reporter Tate McCray. The red carpet livestream can be watched on MTV’s Youtube.
The stars are already starting to arrive on the red carpet. Lizzo, who was nominated for four awards tonight, arrived at the Prudential Center in a Jean Paul Gaultier haute couture gown. Meanwhile, co-hosts Jack Harlow and LL Cool J wore black leather looks.
