Michelle Pfeiffer says she was surprised by the allegations that she retired from acting when she was just trying to raise a family.
The First Lady actress, 63, has pondered her decision to take a break from Hollywood for nearly five years after interest in her and her family made things difficult for her two children, Claudia, 29, and John, 27, when they were growing up. .
It was like, ‘Okay, I’m just going to shoot in the summer, I’m just going to shoot here, and I’m just going to be quiet, blah, blah, blah, ‘and in the end it was too much trouble to hire me,’ she told The Hollywood Reporter.

Pfeiffer and her husband David Kelly moved their family away from Los Angeles, landing in Woodside, Northern California in the Silicon Valley region.
Five years later, she was surprised by the way others saw her career.
“I was starting to hear that I’m retired, and I’d say ‘Wait, no,'” she added.
Michelle – who has appeared in films such as Scarface, Grease 2, The Witches of Eastwick and Batman Returns – admitted that the move was tied to the more challenging aspects of life in the spotlight, and it became more of an issue with the kids.

Her children were too young to understand what was going on, and their mother’s fame wasn’t a concept they could figure out yet.
A few years later, that changed when her daughter was in second or third grade, while they were still in Los Angeles.
She remembers: “My daughter came home from school one day, and she said, ‘Mom, I know when someone comes over to talk to me because they want to be my friend or because you’re my mom.
I asked him, “How?” And she said, “Well, if they’re older and they’ve been talking to me for a long time, it’s not because they want to be my friend.”
Learning as they grow: A few years later, Michelle’s daughter Claudia (pictured in 2007) told her she knows when “someone comes to talk to me because they want to be my friend or because you’re my mom.”

The Oscar-nominated actress smiled as she wore a floral heart-shaped shirt alongside her daughter, who was in the fierce shade of red.
“I’m out on the town with my daughter,” Michelle wrote in the caption, along with the heart-shaped emoji.
Both mother and daughter wore their hair up, with Michelle’s blonde locks hanging straight and parted in the middle, and Claudia’s dark, curly hair hanging over one shoulder.
