Maren Morris humble quest It was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2022 Country Music Association Awards. But Morris remains on the fence about attendance. Morris has been wedded to the more conservative elements of country music ever since Brittany Aldean presented what was seen as TERF-baity data in Instagram. “I really want to thank my dad for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase,” she captioned the video. “I love this feminine life.” Morris and fellow singer Cassady Bob spoke via Twitter, with Morris writing “It’s easy, like, aren’t you a human con artist? Sell your videos and tap, Insurrection Barbie.” Since then, Morris has been the focus of the right wing’s fury, getting her own clip on Tucker Carlson and getting into it with Candice Owens. (Morris captured Tucker Carlson’s moment through a group theme with brothers Osborne and Casey Musgraves.) Now Morris feels disconnected from certain sectors of country music.
“Honestly, I haven’t decided whether to go. I am very honored to have my record nominated. But I don’t know if I feel [at] The house is there now,” she said Los Angeles times. “A lot of the people I love will be in that room, and I will probably make a decision about the time of the match and go. But so far, I don’t feel comfortable to go.” Morris went on to say that she was saddened to attend the party last year. Some nights are fun. Others, she said, crawl out of my skin. “I’m not good at those events because I’m embarrassed. But this time I feel kind of at peace with the idea of not going.”
