Jennifer Aniston says ‘whole generation’ now finds ‘Friends’ offensive

(CNN) Jennifer Aniston is said to be thinking about how Friends feels about not keeping up with the times.

The actress was promoting Her new Netflix movie “Murder Mystery 2” starring Adam Sandlerwhen the topic was brought up.

“Comedy has evolved and movies have evolved,” Aniston said Agence France-Presse In Paris, where the film takes place.

“Now it’s a little difficult because you have to be very careful, which makes it really difficult for comedians, because the beauty of comedy is that we make fun of ourselves, we make fun of life,” Aniston said.

She also touched on how much the culture has changed since “Friends” debuted in 1994.

“There’s a whole generation of kids, who now go back to episodes of ‘Friends’ and find it offensive,” Aniston said. “There were things that were never intended and others…well, we should have thought about it all over—but I don’t think there’s a sensitivity like there is now.”

The lack of diversity on the show has always been a hot topic. The series was co-created by Marta Kauffman He expressed remorse about it last year.

Kaufman “admitting and accepting guilt is not easy” to the Los Angeles Times. “It hurts to look at yourself in the mirror. I feel embarrassed because I didn’t know better 25 years ago.”
