Jay Leno recovering from burn injuries

The former “The Tonight Show” host says Jay Leno is recovering from burn injuries after a petrol fire diverse.

I got serious burns from a petrol fire. I’m fine. “I just need a week or two to get back on my feet,” Lino said in a statement to the newspaper.

CNN has reached out to Lino representatives for comment.

Leno, an avid car collector, was working on one of his cars in his garage when it caught fire. He is being treated for injuries at the Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles.

Amy Bennett, a hospital spokesman, told CNN in a statement that Leno is in stable condition, being treated for “burns he sustained to his face and hands from a petrol accident in his garage over the weekend.”

“He has a good sense of humor and is affected by all inquiries regarding his condition and wishes him well,” the statement said. “He wants everyone to know that he’s doing a good job and that he’s in the ‘best burn center in the United States. ”

Leno, 72, canceled his appearance at The Financial Brand Forum in Las Vegas on Sunday, according to a report from PeopleQuoting the organizers.

“His family was not able to provide us with many details, but there was a very serious medical emergency preventing Jay from traveling,” an email to conference attendees replied and obtained by the publication. “All we know is he’s alive, so we’re praying for him and his family tonight.”

The conference had described Leno as the opening night special performer for attendees who had purchased a gold ticket for the event.
