Tony Rock says Will Smith slapping his brother Chris has effectively ended his friendship with him.

After being mentioned personally in Will Smith’s apology video July 29, Tony Rock gives his opinion of Smith and their broken friendship after Smith slaps Tony’s brother Chris in Oscar Awards 2022.

Rock was asked about the apology, with Smith saying he admits he ruined his friendship with Rock, specifically Tony, who he described as having a “terrific relationship” with him.

Rock wrote on Twitter how the friendship fell apart, and how he had to battle commenters who claimed he only expressed his feelings about the slap to cash in on the popularity of the moment.

“My thoughts? All the crumbs and losers on social media said over and over again that I had nothing to do with him and should be quiet or stay away,” he wrote. Atlanta Black Star. “Others said I (who has made a lot of money since 1999) was hanging around trying to get famous.”

He continued, “Now after personally mentioning in the video, smart people (very few on social media) will realize that I wasn’t just a guy on the outside looking inside. There was a real friendship.”

In the full apology video, Smith talks about the moments after Chris Rock was slapped on stage and how he was dealing with the fallout.

“It was all fuzzy at that point,” he said in the video, adding that he reached out to Camp Rock in an effort to apologize.

“I contacted Chris and the message came back that he is not ready to speak. When he is, he will reach out. I will tell you, Chris, I apologize to you,” Smith said. “My behavior was unacceptable and I am here whenever I am ready to speak. I want to apologize to Chris’ mother. I saw an interview [she] I did, and that was one of the things I just didn’t realize. I wasn’t thinking, but how many people were injured at that moment.”

“I want to apologize to Chris’ mother, I want to apologize to Chris’ family, specifically Tony Rock. We had a great relationship. Tony Rock was my man. Maybe this can’t be fixed,” he continued.

“I’ve spent the past three months replaying an understanding of the nuance and complexity of what happened in that moment. I’m not going to try to unpack it all now, but I can tell you all, no part of me thinks that’s the right way to act in that moment. Nobody He thinks this is the best way to deal with feeling disrespected or insulted.”

Smith also apologized to his family, including his wife Jada Pinkett Smithto put them in such a precarious position.
