On May 31, the US President announced a proposed plan from Israel that, as a first step, would require Israel to withdraw from populated areas of Gaza and offer a six-week ceasefire. This includes the release of hostages held in the Palestinian territories and Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.

Israel has said it is ready to resume talks. A few days ago, the mediators called for a cease-fire in Gaza on August 15 and the resumption of talks on the release of hostages. Israel has given its agreement, but Hamas for its part has not made clear whether it will participate, apparently preferring the use of the “Biden plan”.
