Iceland ranks among the most peaceful countries in the world while the United States ranks 131st

Iceland is the world’s most peaceful country for the 15th consecutive year, while the world is becoming less peaceful overall, according to a new report.

The Institute for Economics and Peace recently released its annual session 2023 Global Peace Index Referring to the top 10 countries famous for peace and tranquility.

Iceland topped the list for 2023 as the most peaceful country in the world, while two other Icelandic countries — Denmark and Ireland — followed suit, ranking second and third as quietest, respectively. Here is the complete list of the top 10 most peaceful countries in the world:

Of the 163 countries listed, the United States is ranked 131st. According to StadyThe United States recorded the fourth largest overall increase in its homicide rate, which “now exceeds six per 100,000 people and more than six times that of most Western European countries”.

according to Institute for Economics and Peace, The gap between the least and most peaceful countries is widening. Since 2008, the 25 least peaceful countries have decreased on average by 12.1%, while the 25 most peaceful countries have improved by 4.3%.
