Joe Benarroch will focus on Twitter’s business operations

Twitter has drawn on NBCUniversal CEO Joe Benarroch, as Elon Musk continues to shake up the social media platform’s top team.

Mr. Benarroch starts his role on Monday, focusing on commercial operations.

It comes less than a month after NBCUniversal’s chief advertising officer, Linda Iaccarino, was appointed as Twitter’s new CEO.

She will assume the position currently held by Mr. Musk, who will remain closely involved with the company.

Mr. Benarroch has already updated his LinkedIn profile, stating that he will be working in Twitter’s New York office.

He also posted an announcement of his move saying, “I look forward to bringing my expertise to Twitter, and working with the entire team to build Twitter 2.0 together.”

In his most recent job, Mr. Benarroch served as Executive Vice President of Communications, Advertising and Partnerships for NBCUniversal. Earlier in his career, he worked for the social media giant Facebook.

The reason for Mrs. Irwin’s resignation is not clear. However, this came a day after Mr. Musk publicly criticized the decision to moderate content made on Twitter.

Since buying Twitter for $44 billion (£35.4 billion), Musk has been under pressure to find someone else to lead the company and refocus his attention on his other businesses, which include electric car maker Tesla and rocket company SpaceX.

The world’s richest man said she would start in six weeks and oversee business operations at the platform, which is struggling to make money.

Musk said he will remain involved with the platform as CEO and CTO.
