The creator and star of the MTV show Jackass has turned himself into the Pennsylvania police over an alleged physical confrontation with his brother, officials said Thursday.
An arrest warrant was issued for Brandon “Bam” Margera on Monday, according to court documents.
The reality star was released on bail after bail was set at $50,000 (£40,000).
Mr. Margera faces charges of assault, harassment and terrorist threats.
His lawyer told US media that he had pleaded not guilty.
Police said Margera fled into the woods before they reached his family’s home in Chester County, Pennsylvania, on Sunday.
According to court documents, the troop responded to a domestic disturbance call at the home. Mr. Margera’s brother, musician Jesse Margera, told police the reality star slammed and kicked his bedroom door, leaving a threatening note warning him not to call the police.
Later, when the two brothers were in the kitchen, Bam Margera began punching his brother and hitting him in the face, the documents alleged.
He threatened to kill his brother and others in the house, according to the documents.
Bam-Margera’s attorney told reporters outside the courtroom Thursday that his client is presumed innocent.
“Families have conflicts all the time. Every family has disagreements. This is not a conflict that should happen in the courts or the media,” attorney Michael Van der Veen said, according to NBC.
A former professional skateboarder, Mr. Margera rose to prominence in the early 2000s as one of the stars of the popular MTV reality TV show Jackass, which featured pranks and sometimes dangerous stunts.
Police said a preliminary hearing for Margera has been set for May 25 in a Pennsylvania courthouse.
