Bryce Harper sent the Philadelphia Phillies to the world championships with a dramatic home race against the San Diego Padres in the eighth game of Game Five of the National League Championship.
Homer was Harper’s second in the series against Padres and played a role in earning the NLCS MVP honor. His blast across the pitch from Padres Robert Suarez’s relief pitcher drove Citizens Bank Park insane and was accompanied by a call from play man Joe Davis who was praised by many across the industry.
Davis began: “Hit someone in the air, center left, come back running.” “Harper, swing his life!”
Davis, as Finn Scully did when Kirk Gibson hit his home run in the first game of the 1988 World Championships, then remained silent as crowd cheers filled the broadcast as Harper swirled around the bases.

Harper became the sixth player in MLB history to score a home green light in the post-season with his side trailing in the eighth game or later in a potential play-off match.
“The chance of being able to be in that position, I don’t exist unless JT (Realmuto) gets that hit at that bat,” Harper said after the win. “I told K. long before I went up the stairs, I said, ‘Let’s give them something to remember.'” “
Just at that moment, after I was able to do it at home, I didn’t want to go back on that trip to San Diego. I didn’t want to take a 5.5 hour flight. I wanted to spend time at home and enjoy this at home with these fans and this organization and this fan base.”
Davis NLCS call-up is part of Joe Buck’s replacement as Fox baseball announcer. He has also been called to an All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium and is scheduled to compete in the World Championships.
Bryce Harper made history against the Dodgers
Before the two-time best player put his stamp on the post-season, Harper put on a historical show during the May series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
