This is the third meeting between the fighters. The first time they fought in 2017, it was decided a tie and Alvarez won by majority decision over GGG on September 15, 2018.

After the fight, Canelo thanks Golovkin for the trilogy. “We gave the fans three good games. Thank you for everything.”

Canelo adds that he plans to have surgery on his left hand after the fight.

“Everyone knows that this is a high-ranking category in boxing,” Golovkin said after the fight. “Everyone knows this is Canelo. You miss one punch, he can finish the fight. Look at his face, look at my face. We trained well and it shows we had a very good fight as a result.”

“Today, Canelo is better,” Golovkin added.

Golvkin agrees that the beef between him and Canelo is over “100 percent” and compares it to LeBron James and Kobe Bryant.

Canelo was asked about the rematch with Dmitri Bevol and said it was a fight he wanted, but I needed to rest. Bevol defeated Canelo last May and defended the WBA Light Heavyweight title against Gilberto Ramirez on November 5.
