For the Knicks, a loss means they haven’t yet reached the Conference Finals since 2000. The only other teams in the NBA that haven’t reached the Conference Finals are Washington Wizards (1979) and Charlotte Hornets (never).

This is the Heat’s seventh conference finals under Erik Spoelstra, who captained the team in 2008-09.

New York jumped out to a 31-17 lead but the Heat held the Knicks scoreless over the final 2:40 of the first quarter to halve that margin heading into the second.
