Buffalo Bills sign RB Damien Harris to a one-year deal, per report

Date:

former New England Patriots The running back, Damien Harris, is set to join the Buffalo Bills, per a tweet late Monday night written by Adam Schefter, one of the NFL’s top punters.

Financial details were not available at the time the agreement was announced.

During last week’s press conference, General Manager Brandon Bean discussed bringing a running back with a different physical make-up than Nyheim Hines or James Cook.

Although Harris (5’11”, 213 pounds) isn’t a real bruiser, he’s a hard-nosed runner who has tantalizing radar for the end zone. Harris, who turned 26 in February, has been an integral part of New England’s offense since he was drafted from Alabama during the third round of the NFL Draft.

Harris’ best season to date, all with the Patriots, was in 2021, when he ran for 929 yards with 15 rushing touchdowns. He added 18 more receptions for 132 yards and four receiving touchdowns. (Stats courtesy of Pro Football Reference.)

At first glance, it looks like Harris could fill the remaining void by running back Devin Singletary, who signed his own one-year contract earlier today with Houston Tx.

The signing of Damian Harris doesn’t necessarily mean that Beane and the Bills are finished adding talent to the running back room. But this does indicate an attempt to shore up the deficiency that plagued the offense during head coach Sean McDermott’s tenure.

Stay tuned with Buffalo Rumblings. We’ll have more on this signing when news becomes available.
