Assassin’s Creed Mirage has a “nostalgic” blue filter which makes it look like the first game

Date:

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will have an optional filter that makes the game look more like the original Assassin’s Creed.

The new filter was shown off during a new behind-the-scenes video uploaded to Ubisoft’s official YouTube channel.

In the video, creative director Stéphane Boudon described Mirage as “a love letter to the franchise’s origins, a coming-of-age story with rhythm mechanics to bring the feel of early games into the modern age”.

As such, the game is expected to play more like early stealth-focused Assassin’s Creed games than modern, large-scale, largely open-world games like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

“We know how excited our community is,” Boudon says in the video. We also have a nice surprise for those who have been around for a long time.

“We’ve implemented a nostalgic visual filter as an option for those who want to explore the game with the desaturated blue and gray palette from the first Assassin’s Creed game.”

Assassin’s Creed Mirage was announced last year in 9th century Baghdad and is described as “a special tribute to the first Assassin’s Creed”.

Last month, Ubisoft showed off a new Assassin’s Creed Mirage gameplay trailer and confirmed that the game will be released on October 12th.

The game is expected to be shown during the Ubisoft Forward Showcase, which will take place on June 12th at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT.

The show will also include the likes of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Assassin’s Creed Mirage and The Crew: Motorfest.

Ubisoft also announced a new 2.5D Prince of Persia game this week, but it seems to have been met with mostly negative responses at this point.
