A full jury has been selected in Donald Trump's historic trial

Date:

Twelve full jurors and six alternates were finally selected by a Manhattan court this Friday. Judge Juan Merson announced that they will attend the historic trial of former US President Donald Trump, the first to appear on criminal charges.

“We have a full jury,” the judge said on the fourth day of the trial, paving the way for proceedings to begin. Days before the 2016 election, Donald Trump has been indicted for allegedly paying former porn star Stormy Daniels to buy her silence as she defeated Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

A person tried to set fire

In court, a man tried to set himself on fire, the motives of which are still unknown. “A man set himself on fire outside the courthouse. We're gathering information on the scene,” an NYPD spokesman said. The victim put both hands behind his head and became a living torch for several seconds before falling to the ground, according to a video of the scene posted on social media.

Police rushed to the man and a fire extinguisher was used. At the scene of the fire, in a square opposite the courthouse, clothes were slowly burning on the ground and a strong smell emanated, an AFP journalist on the scene noted.
