Pete Carroll watches former Seahawks quarterback

Seattle coach Pete Carroll is looking forward to the Seahawks’ latest backup, Gino Smith, the current agent who started three games with Seattle last fall.

“I’d like to drop Gino and bring it back[here],” Carroll told 710 AM KIRO in Seattle on Tuesday.

If Carroll’s hopes come true, that would close the door to rumored trade scenarios from Mayfield to Seattle. As Sam Amiko of OutKick hinted, Undo Baker It became a trend around the NFL.

Smith spent the last three seasons with the Hawks, playing in five games, and Carroll says that if he returns with Seattle, he’ll get his first crack at replacing Wilson — even before Drew Luke, which the team got from Denver in the Wilson trade.

“He showed us a lot of control over our attack when he played last year, and he has a great understanding of it. So he’s out in front of the other players involved in the competition in that regard,” Carroll said, via 710 AM Kiro.

When Wilson was injured last season, Smith stepped in and did reasonably well, completing 68% of his passes for 702 yards with just five touchdowns and one interception.
