In Luzhnivka, central Ukraine, population about 400, 50 men have gone to the front. “I'm not ready for that, if there are many men in the army in our village, you can imagine what it would be like on the scale of Ukraine”, condemns Valentina Brajnik. Hundreds of kilometers from the front line, this region in the center of the country provides the Ukrainian army with the most soldiers, according to local officials.
1,300 soldiers were sent from Kamianka
In the neighboring town of Kamianka, the streets are filled with only women with children and the elderly. The Commune sent 1,300 soldiers out of a population of 20,000 to the front.
