A dove, a suspected spy, was released after eight months in custody

In India, a pigeon was released. The bird was suspected of espionage and was held at a veterinary clinic for eight months before being released on Tuesday 30 January. The animal was intercepted with a “Unreadable Message” According to the newspaper, it was written in Chinese Times of India. “The police opened a case of espionage against the bird but closed the case at the end of their investigation”, says the newspaper. AFP could not get official confirmation.

In May the bird was intercepted and kept in a Mumbai clinic, released by the police and released. Arresting pigeons for spying is not uncommon in India. In 2016, one of them was intercepted at the Pakistan border and jailed with a message threatening Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
