After the passage of strong tropical storm Brett, it will continue its course towards the west and the situation will improve in the next few hours.
The center of the tropical storm hit Saint-Vincent south of Martinique this Friday morning with sustained winds of 120-130 km/h (reliefs of 140 to 150 km/h), heavy rain and accumulations of 80 to 150. mm in the hills. In the sea, particularly in the St.-Lucie Channel, depressions of 5 to 7 m occurred, and coastal flooding was observed between Walklin and Salins.
The peak of intensity has now passed and the situation is improving. Brett will continue its course westward in the Caribbean Sea, gradually losing its intensity, and will pass north of the Dutch West Indies tomorrow without presenting any particular danger.
According to MétéoMédia, this would be the first tropical storm of 5ᵉ to form in June in the Atlantic in 100 years, making it an extremely rare event. Another peculiarity: the name attributed to this tropical system was already used long before a storm, which is very unusual.
