As part of the unveiling of the new uniforms, the team also announced its first-ever official home jersey patch partner, Philadelphia-based Independence Blue Cross. Through the multiyear deal, Independence Blue Cross, the leading health insurance company in southeastern Pennsylvania, becomes the official health insurance partner of the Philadelphia Flyers.
“Independence Blue Cross is excited about this opportunity to highlight our continued support of the Philadelphia Flyers in a visible way,” said Gregory E. Devens, Independence Blue Cross President and CEO. “We’re proud of our roots in Philadelphia and our service to southeastern Pennsylvania for the past 85 years. As our hometown health insurer, we’re excited to support traditions that mean so much to our community, including deepening our relationship with the birthplace of our legendary hockey team.”
The partnership will place the Independence Blue Cross logo on the right chest of all Flyers home jerseys as well as the alternate third jersey and will be displayed through team stands and telecasts. Independence will also become a presenting sponsor of a social media series on Flyers channels focused on nutrition and healthy eating. Through the deal, the organization will offer special single-game discounts for Independence Blue Cross members to be announced at a later date.
