Dutch criminal journalist Peter R. De Vries was seriously injured in a shooting in Amsterdam on Tuesday evening, police said. “Peter R. de Vries was attacked this evening (on the street) in Lange Leitchesterstrod. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.”In a statement to police, the investigation is open.

The 64-year-old journalist and TV presenter is a personality known for his role in several criminal cases in the Netherlands. He continued to appear as a spokesman for the victims or in a close circle of key witnesses. Witnesses heard five gunshots and Peter R. NOS state television reported seeing De Vries being shot in the head.
After interfering with a television broadcast in central Amsterdam, Peter R. Police closed the area where De Vries was shot dead by traffic around 7.30pm (5.30pm GMT). Police said they were “Look for witnesses and pictures of the incident or suspects.”
