(CNN) – Colorado Rockies jar Ryan Feltner suffered a fractured skull and concussion on Saturday after being hit in the head from 92.7 mph.

Feltner was injured when he hit him ejaculate He was hit by Philadelphia Phillies right fielder Nick Castellanos in the second inning of a 7-4 Phillies victory. Feltner was hit on the back of the head while trying to turn and avoid the ball.

The 26-year-old fell to the ground immediately and did not appear to lose consciousness. After spending a few minutes on the ground, he was helped to his feet before being escorted off the field by Colorado coaching staff.

Rockies manager Bud Black confirmed that Feltner spent the night in the hospital and that, after running scans, it was discovered he had a fractured skull and a concussion.

“But overall, he’s fine,” Black told reporters. The feeling that it could have been worse, obviously. But he’s going to miss some time.

“Ryan was texting the guys, so he was pretty settled by the time the game was over and the guys were coming home, 11am, midnight. He was texting our medical team and his parents and we had texted last night. Obviously, he was In a concussion, but it was fairly visible.”

Black said doctors told Feltner the fracture would not require surgery.

“The most important thing is to let the trauma heal and let nature take its course on this,” Black said. “He was shot in the head. Time is the best healer. From everything I’ve been told here this morning, things are getting better.”

Castellanos, who was safe with one after the crash, looked shaken afterward.

“It happened, and then I felt like I was running to first base because it was my job,” Castellanos told reporters afterward. “What I immediately thought was, like, ‘Oh my God, I hit him.’” There was a part of me that wanted to go to the mound, but I think the baseball player takes charge and you go to first.

“As soon as I touched the first one, I turned around and was really hoping it didn’t happen.”
