Michaela WilliamsAnnounced Friday, the top-ranked recruit in the 2023 class, according to ESPN HoopGurlz, has committed to Kim Mulkey’s LSU program.
Williams, the 6-foot-1 guard from Bossier City, Louisiana, chose LSU over the Ole Miss, Baylor, Duke and Texas A&M.
In her video ad, Williams said, “In order to take my game to the next level and continue to learn and grow as a young woman, there is only one place I want to be. Home.” “I’ve decided I’m going to Louisiana State University.”

Williams won the gold with Team USA at the 2021 Under-18 Basketball World Cup 3×3 where she was the best player, and most recently secured a spot on Team USA at the U-17 Basketball World Cup, which they will compete from 9 through July 17 in Hungary.
She was named Gatorade Louisiana Girls’ Basketball Player of the Year in March after averaging 22.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.2 steals as a junior at Parkway High.
With Mulkey in its second season in Baton Rouge, the Tigers are looking to push themselves back into the conversation as title contenders and return to the Final Four for the first time since 2008. LSU fell to Ohio State in the second round of the NCAA Championship last season.
With a group of seniors leaving the program, Mulkey was active in the transfer portal, bringing in Angel Race from Maryland LADAZIA WILLIAMS from Missouri Katerie Bowl from Ohio and Jasmine Carson from West Virginia to join the 2022 recruiting class ranked #17 in the state by ESPN.
